Wales like most parts of the UK has an incredibly beautiful coastline. With that comes some beaches that most wouldn’t associate with this part of the world. We’ve put together our 7 favourite beaches from our time exploring the Welsh coast.

BARAFUNDLE BAY
Our favourite beach in Wales is only accessible by walking for half a mile from the nearest car park. The turquoise water, golden sand, tree and wall lined cliffs backed by beautiful sand dunes. It's easy to see why this incredible place was voted as one of the best beaches in the entire UK. Barafundle is one of only two UK beaches to be named in a list of 25 best beaches in the world, It really is that special!

RHOSSILI
Parking in the car park and gazing for the first across the cliffs and beach below is worth the journey here. The large National Trust car park means that there should be parking available at any time of day. Take a walk along the cliffs or spend the day relaxing on the beach or do both. We loved the view of Rhossili from the cliffs above.

WHERE TO STAY | there are many campsites in the area and the Town of Mumbles is not far either.
THREE CLIFFS BAY
There are actually several sandy bays here dissected by dramatic cliffs and rocks. When the tide goes out you can settle into one of the many little sheltered sections and spend the day sunbathing in privacy. At the back of the beach walk along the stepping stones which cross the Pennard Pill.

WHERE TO PARK | Southgate National Trust car park is the easiest and has plenty of spaces.
WHERE TO STAY | Three Cliffs holiday park over looks the beach. The Mumbles is just around the corner.
TREATH MWNT
A sheltered sandy cove on the west coast is a bit of a hidden gem. The drive to the car park is narrow but the reward is worth it. We had one of our best sunsets here sitting on the hill overlooking this beautiful little beach. It is one of the smaller beaches on this list and we imagine on a hot day it could get full fairly quickly.

TENBY NORTH BEACH AND CASTLE BEACH
These two beaches deserve a mention as Tenby by itself is beautiful but its North beach and Castle beach are also equally beautiful with soft golden sand and plenty of it. Backed by rocks with views of Tenby it is a great place to have a mini break as everything you need is covered.

WHERE TO PARK | North Beach Car park is the easiest option for visiting Tenby.
WHERE TO STAY | There are plenty of holiday lets, Hotels and guest houses in Tenby Town.
PORTH LAGO
This little beach is a bit of a secret and makes it onto our list as it ticks so many boxes. It is smaller, beautiful and hidden. The drive down tiny country lanes through the farm and to the campsite overlooking the beach can be tricky especially if you meet another vehicle as there aren't many if any passing places. The campsite is actually owned by the farm and £15 gets you 24 hours of parking. The Welsh coastal path also passes through and you can hike to other beaches in the area, or simple spend the day on Porth Lago before having a bbq on the cliffs above watching a fantastic sunset.

BLACK ROCK SANDS
There are not many beaches in the Uk where you are allowed to drive onto. Black Rock Sands makes the list because of this. The views are beautiful as you can see the mountains in the distance but being able to drive right onto the beach is the draw here. We took our camper onto the beach, turned left and drove as far as we could. We left all the other cars behind and had a chilled day in the sun, perfect!
