BEST TIME TO VISIT SANTORINI

We have found that our two trips to Santorini have fallen in the best times to visit. We have been in both May and September and the months of April - May and September - October are considered the best months to visit the island. High season on Satorini runs from June - September. There are still crowds of people in the shoulder seasons but far reduced from high season.

The weather is still great in the shoulder seasons too, the wind that hits the island is slightly more reduced later in the year. The summer northern winds are the strongest, the island has no mountains and this is one of the reasons for strong winds. The locals call it Meltemia, the seasonal winds.

Obviously the winter months will be the quietest and the coolest weather. Most of the tourism industry closes down over winter though and a large majority of hotels will be closed. Santorini can be a fantastic island to visit most of the year but plan your trip accordingly to get the most out of your time there.
