WHERE IS TREES AT TUGHALL

Set within the beautiful Northumbrian countryside, the cabins are located within a small rural village called Tughall, only 5 miles from the iconic Bamburgh castle. This is the address to the cabins Trees at, Tughall, Chathill NE67 5EN. 

An idyllic, minimalist and modern cabin in the Northumbrian countryside, Trees at Tughall is the perfect, relaxing retreat from an exciting day of adventure. Each cabin is equipped with everything you would need for your stay; including a small kitchen, bathroom, large comfy bed, window seats, table and chairs and a wood burner for the ultimate cosy aesthetic.

HOW TO GET TO TREES AT TUGHALL?

The cabins are best accessed by car from the B1340, just north of Tughall village and they are well sign posted from the main road. The track is suitable for most cars and is a single track lane. 6 hours 20 minutes from London, 3 hours 40 minutes from Manchester, 4 hr 48 minutes from Birmingham and 1 hour from Newcastle.  

There are public transport options with trains from London to Newcastle and catching a second train which stops at Chathill station and the cabins are a 5 minute taxi ride from the train station. The train is quicker than driving, approximately the journey will take 4 hours from London.

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO VISIT TREES AT TUGHALL? 

We visited in Autumn when the leaves started to change colour and the temperature dropped but this didn’t stop us from getting outside and exploring the local area. As the days were shorter we made the most of the day out adventuring and it was lovely to return to the cabin for a chilled evening in front of the fire. 

WHAT ARE THE CABINS LIKE AT TREES AT TUGHALL? 

There are three cabins to choose from, Ash, Hawthorn, Willow which are identical in their design and facilities that are included with your stay. The difference between them is where they are placed within the landscape and have privacy from each other. Each cabin is built to a high standard and are very efficient in retaining heat, we really enjoyed watching the birds in the morning on the bench seats.

WHAT FACILITIES ARE INCLUDED AT TREES AT TUGHALL?

Each cabin is equipped with everything you would need for your stay; including a small kitchen, bathroom, large comfy bed, window seats, table and chairs and a wood burner for the ultimate cosy aesthetic. 

Wood, firelights and matches are provided for the woodburner and the firepit outside. The kitchen has a kettle, oven, hob, pans, dishes, cutlery, fridge, sink, glasses, mugs, a tea towel and utensils. The fridge is similar to a minibar size, with enough room for a few meals, milk and juice. 

There is a bathroom with a sink, mirror, handwash, shower, toilet, towels and heated towel rail. The shower was very enjoyable and has a door to close it off from the bedroom for privacy. 

The bedroom has a huge comfortable king sized bed with shelves above and lamps for reading at night with storage underneath the bed for your clothes and other belongings. Opposite the bed, you’ll find the window bench seat which also has more storage above and below. There are plenty of blankets provided to keep you warm. Outside you will find your own dedicated parking space close to the cabin for easy access in and out of the cabin.

Prices start from £300 for a 2 night stay which is the minimum amount you can stay, you can book directly on the Trees at Tughall website where there is a calendar that shows the availability of each cabin and the price.


WHAT IS THERE TO DO NEAR TREES AT TUGHALL?

Bamburgh Castle

Bamburgh Castle is perhaps one of England’s finest coastal castles, set on a hill surrounded by sand dunes and the real last kingdom of Bebbanburg. Bamburgh castle is open all year round where you can discover the historical importance of this castle.

Walk ALONG THE Northumberland Coast Path

A long distance walking route, the Northumberland Coast Path covers a distance of 100km that passes some of the highlights of the Northumberland 250 route including castles, beaches and caves.

Seahouses

Seahouses is a seaside village with many of options for eating out and don’t forget to best fish and chips in the area, Lewis’ Fish restaurant serves some of the best! Dunstanburgh castle

The impressive ruins of Dunstanburgh castle are only a short walk following the coast from Craster village. On your walk you’ll pass the famous smokehouse and Craster harbour along the way.

Farne Islands 

A must-visit whilst exploring the Northumberland coast, catch a boat to the Farne Islands, a sancutary for birds and seals. There is a chance to spot to puffins from the beginning of May to the end of July.

Holy Island 

Holy Island is a tidal island, you will need to check the tide times as you can only visit from a single road and will become covered by water. Explore Lindisfarne National Nature Reserve where you’ll spot many different birds including the curlew. Lindisfarne castle sits on a volcanic mount and is currently closed but reopens on the 13th March 2023.

Lewis’ Fish and Chips, Seahouses

This is known as the best fish and chips, take them to eat whilst watching the boats coming in and out Seahouses harbour.

Embers, Alnwick

Set within Eleanor’s Byre a quaint setting with a gift shop within the Northumbrian countryside, at Embers you can enjoy a wood-fired pizza or take away to eat back at the cabin.  

Bait at Beadnell 

At the edge of the sand dunes of Beadnell beach is a local seafood secret, Bait at Beadnell offers tasty, fresh food with a lovely view of the beach.
