Hidden from sight, The Alverton Hotel is a peaceful sanctuary without compromising on location. We were invited to stay at the Alverton Hotel in spring and were lucky to discover beautiful bluebells in the gardens, adding a burst of colour to the former 18th-century convent.

We stayed in one of the Courtyard junior suites named the Floral suite which was located on the eastern edge of the courtyard. The Floral suite is inspired by nature with floral fabrics and butterfly prints, the warm blue envelops the room making it feel warm and cosy, yet also extremely spacious. Everything in the room is finished to a high standard, with luxury furnishing and beautiful sash windows.

What is it like to have afternoon tea at the Alverton Hotel?

One of the best things to do is having an afternoon tea or cream tea at The Alverton Hotel out on the sun-drenched terrace and is one of the best in Truro. The difference between a cream tea and afternoon tea is that for a cream tea it consists of scones, jam, clotted cream and tea whereas afternoon tea is usually a mix of sweet treats such as cakes and savoury items including sandwiches. Remember the proper Cornish way to eat your scones is jam first then cream on top, the trick is to use a spoon to dollop on top!
