The beautiful island of Siquijor, Philippines

Is the small Island of Siquijor worth visiting?

Know as the magic island of the Philippines, Siquijor is a beautiful smaller island that is easy to navigate and enjoy the relaxed island lifestyle of the Philippines.

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT SIQUIJOR

We spent a couple of nights on the island during our time in the Philippines. We would suggest the ideal time to stay is between 2-3 nights because the island is small enough to get around and see most things within a couple of days. You can drive to most parts of the island within an hour making this an ideal island to include in your trip.

Known for its history of witchcraft Siquijor is actually a very friendly island and the locals are extremely kind as we came to expect in the Philippines.

Where to Stay?

There are a lot of guesthouse style hotels on the island. Most of them range from £15-£40 meaning that staying on the island is very cheap. We stayed at Toris Paradise which also had its own pool and resturant. We paid around £20 per night but with Siquijors popularity increasing current prices per night are around £33.

GETTING AROUND

Siquijor is small and easy to get around, there is one main road that circles the island. We hired a scooter and visited the sites on our own, some sections of the road were under construction and we had to drive on gravel for a couple of miles. outside of the main town there is a low amount of traffic and travelling by scooter is generally easy and safe.

WHAT TO DO AND SEE

Salagdoong Beach

One of the most popular parts of the island, known for its cliff jumping platforms and mind blowing blue water. The water is so clear it looks like blue glass. Visit when the tide is high to avoid injury when jumping from the platforms. The beach is actually owned by a resort and you do need to pay a small fee to enter. There are beach facilities and a small restaurant for lunch.

Paliton Beach

Siquijors best beach, lined with palm trees and looking exactly like what beaches in the Philippines are supposed to look like. There are other beaches on the island but a day spent here is worth it for the palm trees, white sand and turquoise water.

Waterfalls

There are two waterfalls you should visit. Both Cambugahay Falls and Lugnason Falls are both beautiful spots to explore and bathe in the cool waters. We have heard though that Lugnason Falls often doesn’t have a pool during the dry season.
